Symbio HR Solutions says some firms struggling to fill vacancies in key areas while the cost of recruitment is also becoming an issue

One of the country’s leading HR and Recruitment specialists has identified significant job vacancies across a number of sectors of the Irish economy and says that Business Owners and HR Managers are becoming increasingly frustrated with the challenges and costs involved in recruitment.

Niall Saul, Chairman of Symbio HR and a former member of the National Executive of IBEC, said that the challenge of matching skills and vacancies was increasing as the number of available candidates for any position increased dramatically; “the time and effort now required to fill positions for some of these high-value export oriented companies is now becoming a limiting factor in their growth plans. These companies are looking for very specific skill sets and its becoming increasingly time consuming and risky trying to do that. We’ve one client who has spent 9 months trying to find the right candidate for a particular role. We’ve other clients who are struggling to get in front of candidates in other countries or who have to invest thousands of euro doing so.”

Saul said that the vacancies covered technical [IT/Engineering], Credit Management, Audit and Compliance and managerial roles and would offer salaries ranging from €50,000 to €150,000.

Saul was speaking at the launch of a new technology led recruitment service which will facilitate SME companies in their recruitment programmes. The new service uses different applications from a number of companies including Symbio HR, Cut-e, Amris, and Sonru.com to provide online applications, testing and interviewing for companies. Symbio HR and their partners combine these services to help companies to reduce costs, reduce administration and increase the success rate for recruiting suitable candidates to fill vacant roles.

Speaking today Saul said; “in recessionary times it can become even more expensive and difficult to identify and recruit the right candidate for a role, as the number of candidates for every role tends to increase significantly. This new service will greatly facilitate companies who want to get the maximum return from their recruitment drives with the least amount of administration, expense and time consumed along the way.

This integrated approach can be controlled and managed by HR functions in companies, or can be used as a fully outsourced, fully compliant support service by SMEs who may not have their own in-house HR function.

The new service will enable applicants to apply for positions on-line, answer preset questions to determine their suitability for a role, complete psychometric testing online, and complete initial interviews through online video if necessary and be selected for a very fine tuned short list for ultimate selection.
